Happy Thanksgiving!

Wow ... now that is a strange title for a blog post. I am not sure what got into me tonight ... perhaps it was my daughter's talent show tonight (super cute! Way to go Jessie!) ... perhaps it was the crazy work day ... perhaps it's the second glass of Merlot (I'm guessing the Merlot!). What is Socialism? It's a word that is thrown out a lot ... but what does it really mean? I could give you the Webster's dictionary definition but that is boring ... and any one that knows me, knows I am not boring. So instead I am going to tell you a story ... gather the kids around and throw on your Snuggies ... pour yourself a hot toddy or better yet 3 fingers of Johnny Walker ... I digress, let's move on shall we.

My story begins many years ago ... now I want you to, at times, close your eyes and think about the history of my story ... think about what it was really like in a time when you didn't jump in the mini-van and go to Super Wal-Mart to buy dinner ... think about what it was like when you had to actually hunt a living animal for your dinner, or grow a plant out of the ground for your dinner, or pull a fish or other sea life from the ocean or river for your dinner. Get out of your comfort zone of Living in the Greatest Nation on Earth where the Store Shelves are Full, Where the Meat is Already Killed and Cut Up for You, Where You Can Buy Everything You and Your Family Need to Live On at One Store! Are you there? Are you thinking like a hunter, like a gatherer, like a farmer? Okay then ... let us proceed.

Now I must tell the truth (that's what conservatives do), I am not going to be the one to tell this story, I am going to let someone else tell it. A quick background ... this is a story on how Socialism almost killed the American Dream before anyone knew what the dream was ... and how the Free Market and Capitalism saved it. Enjoy! I am going to get another glass of Merlot while you read ... yes I can count ... yes I know that's three glasses ... yes I know they say two is healthy, but hey three minus two is one, and one (more) is less than two so there!

The Great Thanksgiving Hoax - Richard J. Marbury (see link below)

Each year at this time school children all over America are taught the official Thanksgiving story, and newspapers, radio, TV, and magazines devote vast amounts of time and space to it. It is all very colorful and fascinating.

It is also very deceiving. This official story is nothing like what really happened. It is a fairy tale, a whitewashed and sanitized collection of half-truths which divert attention away from Thanksgiving's real meaning.

The official story has the pilgrims boarding the Mayflower, coming to America and establishing the Plymouth colony in the winter of 1620-21. This first winter is hard, and half the colonists die. But the survivors are hard working and tenacious, and they learn new farming techniques from the Indians. The harvest of 1621 is bountiful. The Pilgrims hold a celebration, and give thanks to God. They are grateful for the wonderful new abundant land He has given them.
The official story then has the Pilgrims living more or less happily ever after, each year repeating the first Thanksgiving. Other early colonies also have hard times at first, but they soon prosper and adopt the annual tradition of giving thanks for this prosperous new land called America.

The problem with this official story is that the harvest of 1621 was not bountiful, nor were the colonists hardworking or tenacious. 1621 was a famine year and many of the colonists were lazy thieves.

In his 'History of Plymouth Plantation,' the governor of the colony, William Bradford, reported that the colonists went hungry for years, because they refused to work in the fields. They preferred instead to steal food. He says the colony was riddled with "corruption," and with "confusion and discontent." The crops were small because "much was stolen both by night and day, before it became scarce eatable."

In the harvest feasts of 1621 and 1622, "all had their hungry bellies filled," but only briefly. The prevailing condition during those years was not the abundance the official story claims, it was famine and death. The first "Thanksgiving" was not so much a celebration as it was the last meal of condemned men.

But in subsequent years something changes. The harvest of 1623 was different. Suddenly, "instead of famine now God gave them plenty," Bradford wrote, "and the face of things was changed, to the rejoicing of the hearts of many, for which they blessed God." Thereafter, he wrote, "any general want or famine hath not been amongst them since to this day." In fact, in 1624, so much food was produced that the colonists were able to begin exporting corn.
What happened?

After the poor harvest of 1622, writes Bradford, "they began to think how they might raise as much corn as they could, and obtain a better crop." They began to question their form of economic organization.

This had required that "all profits & benefits that are got by trade, working, fishing, or any other means" were to be placed in the common stock of the colony, and that, "all such persons as are of this colony, are to have their meat, drink, apparel, and all provisions out of the common stock." A person was to put into the common stock all he could, and take out only what he needed.
This "from each according to his ability, to each according to his need" was an early form of socialism, and it is why the Pilgrims were starving. Bradford writes that "young men that are most able and fit for labor and service" complained about being forced to "spend their time and strength to work for other men's wives and children." Also, "the strong, or man of parts, had no more in division of victuals and clothes, than he that was weak." So the young and strong refused to work and the total amount of food produced was never adequate.

To rectify this situation, in 1623 Bradford abolished socialism. He gave each household a parcel of land and told them they could keep what they produced, or trade it away as they saw fit. In other words, he replaced socialism with a free market, and that was the end of famines.

Many early groups of colonists set up socialist states, all with the same terrible results. At Jamestown, established in 1607, out of every shipload of settlers that arrived, less than half would survive their first twelve months in America. Most of the work was being done by only one-fifth of the men, the other four-fifths choosing to be parasites. In the winter of 1609-10, called "The Starving Time," the population fell from five-hundred to sixty.

Then the Jamestown colony was converted to a free market, and the results were every bit as dramatic as those at Plymouth. In 1614, Colony Secretary Ralph Hamor wrote that after the switch there was "plenty of food, which every man by his own industry may easily and doth procure." He said that when the socialist system had prevailed, "we reaped not so much corn from the labors of thirty men as three men have done for themselves now."

Before these free markets were established, the colonists had nothing for which to be thankful. They were in the same situation as Ethiopians are today, and for the same reasons. But after free markets were established, the resulting abundance was so dramatic that the annual Thanksgiving celebrations became common throughout the colonies, and in 1863, Thanksgiving became a national holiday.

Thus the real reason for Thanksgiving, deleted from the official story, is: Socialism does not work; the one and only source of abundance is free markets, and we thank God we live in a country where we can have them.

The big picture problem here is once you go down the road of Socialism it is very hard to travel back, especially in a nation our size. You see the socialists know they cannot deliver on their promises, so what happens? ... either they give back power after being defeated in elections or prior to the elections they seize power and become ... Big Lie #2

Universal, single payer health care is coming fast and furious via the Obama administration. Without getting into all the nuts and bolts, let's just start with the basics; Can you name one nation where universal health care is a success? Don't bother trying because there is no such success story. Why is that we wonder? The reason is that government cannot deliver on its promise to cover everyone because they do not have enough money ... period. Unfortunately many Americans believe that we can deliver ... sadly we cannot. Currently 49% of health care in the United States falls under Medicare and Medicaid and both of those programs, like Social Security, are bankrupt, unfunded liabilities for future generations to deal with.

The Big Lie #2, which was promulgated, by Michael Moore's Sicko, is that other nations universal health care is better than ours. If that were the truth then people of means in those countries would not travel to America every day for care ... but they do. They do this because care in those countries is free ... but it is rationed, only those the government feel need it, get it. Why is this not reported in our nation by our media? Read the links below, read the actual articles by real news outlets in countries over seas, and decide if you want to wait 4 months for an MRI as they do in Canada. Read the God Damn articles and ask yourself if that is what you want for you and your children. You have never seen this reported in the liberal media ... why? You decide ... I report.

My Friend the Liberal Fool

I have searched long and hard for him, it has been an arduous journey ... I have looked everywhere, at youth hostels, Starbucks, college campus', at my child won't leave home support groups, at book stores, even at train stations and bus stops ... and I have found him. I have found the quintessential liberal drone ... a true Obamatron.

I have already crushed his last video report regarding waterboarding in my blog and I have added a link list to his profile and his posts, called The Liberal Fool. Go there to see what a true, angry liberal hater thinks. Nothing America does is good, America is bad and should apologize to the rest of the world, America should be punished. This what the Liberal Fool believes. You will never see a post on his IReport video blog that champions America, never, if you do it is because I called him out on it.

Now the Liberal Fool has posted another video blog segment in regards to waterboarding. Yesterday I smacked him around in the comment section on IReports regarding his lack of substance and sources, so late yesterday his video contained multiple sources ... but alas, the Fool's sources are not applicable. The Fool opens his video blog with a brief discussion of how our own forces where waterboarded in SERE training (Survival, Evasion, Resistance, and Escape) and his argument from there states that if we trained to survive torture that violated the Geneva Convention then we know that we are also in violation when we do it to enemy combatants. The Fool also mentions a case in Texas where some law enforcement officers were tried and convicted for waterboarding a prisoner. Ah but the Fool as missed one key point (I doubt he missed it, I am sure he just left it out as he pandering to a fairly ignorant constituency anyway). The point he missed is that enemy combatants are not subject to the Geneva Convention. I have added a link below titled, Geneva Convention relative to the Treatment of Prisoners of War.

Pay particular attention to Article 4 where it states:

Members of other militias and members of other volunteer corps, including those of organized resistance movements, belonging to a Party to the conflict and operating in or outside their own territory, even if this territory is occupied, provided that such militias or volunteer corps, including such organized resistance movements, fulfil the following conditions:
(a) That of being commanded by a person responsible for his subordinates;
(b) That of having a fixed distinctive sign recognizable at a distance;
(c) That of carrying arms openly;
(d) That of conducting their operations in accordance with the laws and customs of war.

You see the Fool does not want you to see this because he is a either a real fool or he is trying to get you to believe that enemy combatants have rights under the Geneva Convention which they clearly do not. And I have to go back to the Texas case he cites; Fool you cited a state case? ... Of course waterboarding is illegal in the state of Texas, they are not at war you idiot ... except with you and the other Fools. Fool, it is like a cat toying with a mouse ... better luck next time. I will respond to the Fool's next video post that is on another subject as I have kicked his ass on this one.

I Want to be Waterboarded

"I was so wrong about torture. Since the Liks of Limbaugh, Hannity, Beck, and anyone else on the right think it's not torture when you're waterboarded, and it's just rough interrogation tactics, then they must think it's perfectly okay when our soldiers are captured and they're waterboarded.

I'd like to see them say it's not torture when a news report breaks on Private Joe Smith, from Anytown, USA, was found to have been waterboarded 183 times over a period of 30 days.

Who else thinks it would be okay if one of our American Soldiers was found to have been waterboarded that many times? Who else can say that he would be a perfectly normal man, with no damaged psychological issues after believing he would be drowned nearly 200 times.

I am trying hard not to call him a name, I already called him a knucklehead and the word ObamaTron is not name calling, it's just the plain truth as this guy, and unfortunately the millions like him, are spoon fed this nonsense from Obama, his administration, the Socialists in Congress, and the liberal media. So they get on their sites and come up with ludicrous arguments like the one above. Now you will notice that there really is no substance to his post, nothing. He just drones on about how the 'right wingers' think it's okay to water board our troops ... and I agree, read on to see why.

Now I, not being a knucklehead ObamaTron, will destroy his argument easily with almost no effort. Here we go. He states that certain conservative talk show hosts think that it's 'perfectly' okay for our troops to be waterboarded, now come on this is just so easy ... I am fairly convinced that these conservative pundits would be ecstatic if these enemy combatants waterboarded our captured troops. Now I'm sure your thinking; "Doug what the hell are you talking about? How can you say that? You want to waterboard our troops, who else do you want to waterboard? Your neighbor if he fails to return the tool he borrowed, your mail man, your dog, your children? You're a racist, you hate gay people, Bush Lied Kids Died ... blah, blah, blah". Yes ... let me be clear, if one of our troops is captured I want them to be waterboarded, because right now if these enemy combatants capture Private Joe Smith from Anytown, USA they would ... torture the living hell out of him, beat him to a pulp, cut his head off, burn his corpse, dismember his corpse, and drag his corpse through the streets of their cess pool villages!!! Don't you get it veritas28? Our captured troops would not be waterboarded hundreds of times and after each time sent back to their air conditioned cell at Gitmo to read their Bible that the enemy combatants provided. They would not be waterboarded hundreds of times and then go to the dentist, or the doctor, or have 3 squares a day like they do in Guantanamo Bay. They would not be waterboarded and then allowed to brush their teeth, slip on clean jammie's and climb into a cot and go to sleep. Our captured troops would not be waterboarded at all! They would be terrorized and then put to death in the most horrific way possible ... their head's sawed off their bodies while they are still alive! So yes veritas28, the conservative pundits, myself, and millions of real Americans want Private Joe Smith to be waterboarded if he is captured ... and Private Joe Smith from Anytown, USA would want to be waterboarded as well.

Now veritas28 when you lay your head down on your parent's pillow tonight, in their basement that you live in, I want you to close your eyes and think about some Terrorist holding your daughter's, or your wife's, or your mother's, or your dad's, or perhaps your brother's, or your sister's head down as he saws into their neck, through their skin, through their spinal cord, through their veins and arteries, through their muscle and bone ... all while they are alive and screaming, calling out your name. After that thought I think you would want them to be waterboarded too. Now before you go to sleep say this; "I live in the greatest nation on Earth", give it a try veritas let the liberal anger go and think about how amazingly blessed you are to live in a nation like ours.

Today is Earth Day, not the day the Earth stood still, nor the Day after Tomorrow, it is just plain old Earth Day ... yeah. I celebrated my Earth Day by making my carbon footprint as big as possible; I took the long way to work, I drove over my lunch hour snacking on a salad with grilled chicken ... yes I'm dieting ... no I don't like it ... yes I have to because I need to lose weight, I digress. I left all the lights on at my house and stopped by the grocery store and asked for a whole bunch of plastic bags ... she actually gave them to me, albeit with a strange look on her face after I told her they were for Earth Day. As you can tell already; I don't believe in Global Warming (what the Enviro-Statist calls it in the summer), nor do I believe in Man-made Climate Change (What they call it in the winter). Enviro nut jobs are not quite as bad as the anarchists with their No More Money! signs at the G-20; now how did they get to the summit; money, where did they sleep? A hotel; money. When they were hungry, they ate; money. Idiots! But the Environment crowd is almost as bad let me be clear about that.

Now I can prove Global Warming, Man-made Climate change, or whatever the H. E. double hockey sticks you want to call it is a hoax. Now you may say "Doug, what the hell are you talking about! Your not a scientist, your in sales, your a racist, Bush lied!, you have a poster of Dick Cheney in your room ... blah, blah, blah". But I can prove it ... simply and efficiently ... in two points, and they are:

1) It has widely been reported in the left wing media (which is almost all main stream media) that there is a 'consensus' among scientists that it is real ... NO! There is no such thing as a 'consensus' in true science; either it has been proven, or dis proven ... period! (And any of you Scientists that want to take me on go ahead ... but before you do tell me who funds your research ... not the organization that you research for but the money that funds that research organization ... tell me that and I will guarantee you that you do not have one scientist on staff that disagrees with Global Warming or whatever the name of the day for it is)

2) Any thing the Loony Left goes gaga over is false and not based on reality. Name me one liberal policy that has made a difference in this nation or world ... I dare you as I will back up a truck of data from real sources that show you it has not worked or achieved the opposite of its intended goal (try me! I am very well read and I think it would be fun!)

Now I don't litter, I turn my lights off (except for today) not to save the planet but to save money, I am not wasteful, again for $$ not to save the planet. Because you see this is the big lie of the left on the environment ... they are not saving the planet, because the planet does not need saving! Let me be clear on this ... The Human Race will not exist long enough on Mother Earth to matter! Sorry to be a downer there but you have to try and comprehend how old the earth is and what has happened to other species that have dominated the planet. The dinosaurs were on this planet for 65 million years ... again not a scientist, so if you are, correct me if I'm wrong. Man has been on this planet for ... don't know for sure but don't really care because it has been no where near 65 million years! Let's say for the sake of the example that it has been 25,000 years ... think about it; for man to be on this planet as long as the dinosaurs we would need to survive the next 2,599 ... 25,000 year periods ... good luck. To further make my point take a look at this video and make your own decisions ... maybe we can come together and have a consensus!

#2 ... Who's #1?

Now this is interesting … not a big deal, but a very good example of how our media works in this country. This ties directly to the reporting I did about President Obama shaking hands with Chavez … and Chavez handing him a book. Now this book that our President so graciously accepted is a book about how Latin America has been exploited by the West and more specifically the United States. After the news broke about the book … no the liberal media break it, the story was broken by conservative blogs, I believe specifically the Drudge Report, the book began to see a massive surge of people buying it on Amazon … so much so that it jumped from something like #50,000 to the #2 selling book on Amazon. Now stick with me here because I know you’re thinking “Doug what the hell are you talking about!” Again this is not something that is a huge issue but it really shows you what liberal bias in the media is all about, it is a very clear example … so let’s get into it.

The media jumped on this and had reports by some of the biggest names, Chuck Todd of NBC, Heraldo Rivera of Fox News, Chris Matthews of MSNBC among others discussing how amazing it was that this book has risen so fast on Amazon. Now not once did they discuss the content of the book, nor did they discuss the inappropriate nature of a Dictator handing an American hating book to our President, they simply just marveled at how incredible it was that the book jumped to #2. Now why is the #2 significant? … Well for all you math majors out there, the #2 is right after the … #1! Can anybody tell me what the number one selling book is on Amazon? (that’s right the #1 best-selling book, not just the #1 political book, not the #1 non-fiction book, not the #1 educational book … the #1 book period!) I can, it is Mark Levin’s Liberty and Tyranny, A Conservative Manifesto. Now what may surprise you even more is that this book has been #1 on Amazon and the New York Times bestseller list, again not in its category of non-fiction, but #1 out of all categories … for the last 3 full weeks and looking good to be #1 for 4 full weeks! Yet you have not seen or heard of one mention of this book on NBC, CBS, ABC, CNN, MSNBC, Associated Press, nor have you seen the author interviewed on the Today Show, nor on Good Morning America, nor on the Early Show, nor on the View, nor on Regis and the Hot Blonde Show, nor on 60 minutes, nor anywhere!

Now I don’t care if he is interviewed, nor does he, has he has a #1 book without them and is the 3rd largest nationally syndicated radio talk show host in the country. But it is just striking that his book, which is about conservative beliefs, became #1 and is still #1, without any mention in the mainstream media. What is even more striking … and disturbing, is that a book about extreme leftist hatred of America zooms to # 2 on Amazon, after a banana republic third world dictator hands it to our President A clear example of liberal bias in America … and a very disturbing view of what the media think about their country. U.N. Walkout

Okay let's get into this quick as I am hoping to still post tonight about our President's apology tour in South America ... but this is breaking news! Check out the link below; a whole bunch of Western diplomats walked out of the UN today after the so-called President of Iran said Israel is the "most cruel and repressive racist regime." Are you kidding me! This from a guy who says the Holocaust did not happen, from a guy who said he wants to wipe Israel off the face of the Earth! For all you latte sipping, trust fund Obamatrons out there that don't know that the UN is in New York, USA, well now you know and yes this jack ass is on our soil saying these things, unreal!

Now you may not know that the UN headquarters, on our soil, is not actually our soil anymore ... that area is not part of the United States ... well after this speech it should be again! It is time to kick this worthless body of American hating nations off our soil, I know every nation does not hate us but there are too many in the UN that do ... after all it's called the United Nations. If we cannot even be civil then those rogue nations should be expelled, if they are not then they can take their headquarters and put them in the shit hole that is the vast majority of the Middle East.

If our President does not step up to the plate and make something happen here then I will be one step closer to calling him a non-American. He has got to stop apologizing to nations that hate us, hate freedom, and hate liberty!

The Big Lie

I want to express my thanks to the 2 people I know who read my first blog post ... thanks! As I mentioned I have no freebies to give you ... but perhaps I can get Rush Limbaugh to throw in a couple of Club Gitmo t-shirts! For those that have not read it and end up reading it, I thank you as well ... for you perhaps a signed copy of my cocktail napkin that I wrote some notes on a few years back, I think there are even food and wine stains on it ... never know could be worth something some day. Last night I went a little deep with my first blog, it was a like a deep tissue massage, you think they hurt but they really feel quite good (well maybe that's a stretch). I did get a bit into a history lesson and I know that can be boring to some, so today's post will be more exciting ... right after I think of what to write because I just got up and have not had any java yet ... I also need to go for a run/walk ... so let me think about it some, but I promise it will he hard-hitting and controversial (it really is no fun unless someone cusses you out, tells you to shut up, or says it is all Bush's fault). Don't change that channel ...

Okay back to it ... and no I have not gone for the run/walk yet ... but I am having coffee, yogurt and some OJ ... let's get into it. You liberals have been almost completely bamboozled by the administration and by the left wing media in this country in regards to ... drum roll please ... Health Care & Health Insurance! Now this is a juicy topic and a big one to boot, so we won't try to tackle it all today ... it's just got too many moving pieces, so we'll hit one, a couple, or at the most a few of the big talking points today and dissect the rest later. I am going to ask you again to have an open mind and to really think about what I write, and to read or view the links I post, because this topic is the big daddy out there, the 800 pound gorilla, the big picture, the big enchilada, the big personality, the movie Big, the big day ... and any other big thing you can think of ... because if this one goes the way it looks like it is going ... we will all regret it some day and our children and grand children will too. Come on at this point someone has to call me a name, just one, come on you can do it you Obamatrons, just wipe the drool from your mouth and call me a name!

Big Lie #1

"Doug, what are you talking about? ... There are 47, 48 million uninsured Americans ... we are the richest country on earth ... I have a right to health care! ... Bush lied". Let me be clear, this is a LIE, a big fib ... equivalent to you lying to your boss or your client or your kid or your wife ... and lying to them about a big deal ... not a little white lie ... we have all done that. This lie is so big because it sets the stage that there is this huge problem that has to be fixed right away and that we have to change our health care system now, have to, have to, have to, right now, change, change, Hope, Hope! (now I'm ranting, come on just one insult here ... there is a comment section below on this blog ... click it and say mean things to me, don't talk dirty to me as my wife will read this .. I hope). Let us crack this egg ... remember what I said in my first blog, not the last one, the first one ... I said I would provide real sources ... well here you go.

This just in from the .... Census Bureau ... I know you were hoping I was going cite the Drudge Report or at least something more exciting. Now the Census Bureau we can all agree is not part of the "right wing attack machine", can we agree on that? Yes or no? If no then again choose the Bush Lied response below log off and ... grab your No Nukes sign and go protest somewhere. If yes then let us continue. According to the 2006 Census Bureau of the 46.6 million people without insurance ...

9.5 million were not US Citizens

17 Million lived in households earning more than $50,000 a year (now come on at 50K a year you are choosing to not purchase health insurance because many of these people have 2 cars, maybe a boat, maybe a wave runner, perhaps a 4 wheeler, etc, etc. they are choosing these things over purchasing health insurance ... and before you say "Doug what do you mean? These people can't get insurance, their sick!" don't go there I work in the industry and will crush you with data and facts and we all know liberals don't like those, so just sip your Starbucks, keep reading, and learn something!)

18 Million were in the 18 to 34 age range (In this age range many citizens choose not to purchase health insurance because they are young and feel they are wasting their money ... I happen to disagree with them because I work in the industry ... but again it is called freedom, they can choose not to purchase it.)

Approximately 30% of the figures above were insured within 12 months and 50% were insured within 4 months (You see people change jobs, get a job, buy insurance, terminate insurance coverage ... all the time, so when you take a snapshot figure and spew it out in the liberal media everyone says oh my god 46.6 million uninsured!)

What does this mean to you ... it means you were lied to, it means that there are approximately 8 to 11 million chronically uninsured American Citizens, no where near 46.6 million. How come you don't hear this in the media ... well I know why but I will save that for another post. Just remember, it's like the old saying; "If it is too good to be true ..." turn that around and use it with this liberal talking point and reads like this "If it sounds really bad coming from the media then it is probably not anywhere close to as bad." So do some research and dig deeper, don't accept things said in 30 second sound bites. I have listed my sources below as promised. Let me also be very clear on this; we have the greatest health care in the world, bar none! Stay tuned as I will prove this in the next post(s)! And I will do it by dissecting that fat slob, no not me, Michael Moore's fakeumentary Sicko. Now call me a liar and a racist and protest me! What I Believe

It does not make a lot of sense to start a blog that is going to be about a specific belief system if you don't tell your audience what you believe in ... of course right now I have no audience whatsoever, but I'm hopeful! Before I wow you with my intellectual prowess, I want to ask you to do me a favor ... a bit audacious of me I know but stick with me. I have added a link to the Declaration of Independence; read at least the first few paragraphs as I will cite portions of them. I may cite others as well so I suggest you read the whole thing; yes put your latte down and read it!

I will wait patiently until you are done ... but hurry the hell up as I am impatient ... I'll get a beer while you are reading ...

The Declaration is a truly magnificent document ... but you have to feel it, you have to read it and then close your eyes and think about what it must have been like to be the men who signed their names to it ... turn back the hands of time and imagine you are sitting there with your pen ... not a Bic mind you ... and you are about to put your John Hancock down, pun intended, on a document that you know labels you a traitor and puts you, your family, your career, everything you know, everyone you love in jeopardy. It is so easy to forget how this country started and to view these documents as just documents, but they are so much more. I will not discuss why these men did this, I want to discuss what the words meant and not in the framework of the war of independence but what the framers wanted if they were successful in their endeavor. These words are the core of what I believe.

Let us begin with this portion from the first paragraph; "... and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God entitle them ... " You see the framers clearly believed in a supreme being but you will notice they did not specifically mention a religion, or Jesus Christ, Buddha, etc. Why? Well we know that the framers believed in freedom of religion or the right to believe in no religion at all (mind you that does not mean freedom from religion ... please take note you card carrying members of the ACLU). Now at this point I know many of you liberals are thinking this ... should I have the Venti or the Grande ... just kidding let's move on ... you're thinking ... great here we go another rant from a Christian right winger. Why is it important to discuss this portion of the Declaration? It is not because of the religious implications it is because of whom bestows rights on whom? Okay take a break for a minute and have a sip of your Starbucks, maybe read the sports section, clear your head and focus ... I'll wait ... and get another beer.

Let's move on ... the framers are clearly stating that something other than another man has given them their power to be free, to seek liberty, and to pull away from tyranny. You see the Declaration is saying here that man does not bestow rights on men, that there is a higher power that has provided every man with certain rights. This is critical! So pay attention ... in a nutshell (everytime I say or write that word I think of Mike Myers in Austin Powers) a man cannot give another man rights ... nor can man take them away ... but we know men have tried, are trying now, and will always try to do just that.

Before I move on, can I just say what was John Hancock thinking when he signed his name, was his pen really big? Let us continue ... the next portion to discuss is " We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness". Now this is a fun one because I know what liberals always say here ... "Doug what are talking about the framer's were slave owners ... they didn't believe this stuff ... they were racists and you are too! Bush lied ... blah, blah, blah" ... really you have to get new material). Yes I know many if not all of the framers were slave owners and yes I know slavery was a very big bad wrong in our nation's history and I know the framers did not really include women in their equation either ... but we fixed those issues as a nation, yes they took much longer than they should have to fix ... and yes I agree they are not all the way fixed ... so can we all agree to move on to the bigger picture? Yes or no? If no mark the Bush Lied Kids Died response box below, log off, and go back to your newspaper ... or back to scratching yourself in your parent's basement ... or whatever else you were doing. For those that can agree let's move on.

I am going to finish digesting the above portion and wrap it up for the night as I am getting tired and want to go to sleep ... I am not going to bother with the definition of unalienable or the framers meaning of the word, I am simply going to focus on one word ... drumroll please ... and the winner is ... Pursuit ... now be honest none of you, the one person still reading this, would have guessed that I would focus on pursuit. What you do notice is that the framer's did not write that one has the right to a house, a car, healthcare, a job, dental care, condoms, peanut butter, spongebob, jelly, jelly and peanut butter, a jelly and peanut butter sandwich, medical marijuana, illegal marijuana, beer, Megan Fox (although I would have agreed with that one ... just kidding Jenni), they simply stated life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Why this is important is because we live in a "civil society" to quote Mark Levin's Liberty and Tyranny, we have to live together under the rule of law or we would have anarchy like they do in California ... I mean Somalia. But in this civil society we have, again, the right to life, and liberty, God given rights not man given ... and the only other right we have is the right to ... again drumroll please ....Pursue happiness.

In summary based on what I have written I believe the following:

I believe ...

1) In personal property rights
2) In personal responsibility
3) In freedom
4) In liberty

I believe that there are many in this nation and this world that believe that we as humans have the right to live like everyone else and to have what everyone else has ... I believe many of these people have given up on their right to Pursue happiness and that is why they support people who promise to make them happy and always fail to deliver on that promise. More importantly there are a few in this country and this world who know that people have given up on this right, who are advocating they give up ... these people know they cannot deliver on their promise and yet why do they do it? What are they in Pursuit of? ... Stay tuned and find out.

The First Blog

Well I must tell you my first blog post is surely not as fun as some of my other firsts, however it is most definately safer, wiser, & less expensive than many of them. I am writing this blog for many reasons; some out of pure self-interest, some out of my desire to write, and most importantly because I have to get this stuff out of my head, and since I, like many of you in the age of computers, can no longer write the written word in any legible way this may be a good outlet for me. I am hoping that these posts will be viewed as interesting, informative, creative, perhaps a little funny, but also seen as a serious discourse on the state of our nation and our world.

I will lay this blog page out in a clear, concise manner ... just not yet because only 15 minutes ago did I Google free blogs and it has only been a few minutes since I created my blog. By the way I must tell you this free site is way cool, very easy to set up and get writing. A side note ... the word Blog is a strange word but so is Google ... I digress let's move on. There are a few things I can tell you about how this blog will go:

1) I will use real sources, real articles, and real links to back up every post, I will not be citing other blogs (that's the whole point of writing my own)
2) I am absolutely trying to change your mind if you disagree with me so I will attempt to educate and not rant
3) I believe we all have the right to our opinion so I will do everything in my power to be civil (please remember I am Irish, I like to have a few drinks, and I really think liberal drones are destroying my nation, so I may slip up some times and resort to name calling, feel free in those instances to call me a name, just be creative!)

I look forward to Blogging for many years ... or just a few days depending on whether I get bored with this hobby like I have with all my others! Stay tuned ...
